Her constant and stunningly vicious harping on Sarah
Palin is enough to make most normal women queasy - normal meaning outside the
Beltway and between the two coasts.
Normal women whose old fashioned idea of feminism used
to be that we could do it all.
But while Ms. Dowd may be getting pats on the back from
Soros-paid bloggers and the likes of Sally Quinn, doyenne of DC society (though
many of us remember the very ugly way she got there and the bodies she left
behind in her quest for power), we in middle America find Ms. Dowd an
increasingly pathetic figure; a serial killer of truth, pathologically lacking
in self awareness and delusional about her own importance.
Maureen Dowd is quick to point out racism where none
exists. So who's the real racist? It's getting to be such an old liberal
refrain - or should I say auld liberal refrain - that most people don't hear it
any more without rolling their eyes. If Ms. Dowd and her crowd can't win on
facts, you don't need to read the rest of the article. Yes, indeed, you're the
R word. End of argument. She, and they, stick out their collective tongues and
it's all over as far as they're concerned.
But those days are over, Babycakes. It took us decades,
but we've finally caught on. As soon as someone resorts to that, we now know
that not only have you no ammunition, we recognize who the real racists are, and
it isn't us. Do a fact check, unusual for you, I know, and find out if liberals
or conservatives have been in charge of every political aspect of the ten most
poverty stricken cities in
Sarah Palin has been a favorite target. She is an
ordinary woman who went to an ordinary university, married an ordinary man and
is raising an ordinary family. When she saw corruption at the local level in
her government, she rolled up her sleeves and did something about it instead of
whining; then she took on both Republicans and Democrats to clean up corruption
at the state level and ran
But in Dowd World, that only applies to Liberal women,
so she takes aim with what she apparently considers her acerbic wit and does
what she can to destroy a perfectly nice woman. (Not that Ms. Dowd would
recognize a nice woman. I suspect most of them give her a wide berth.) Her post
menopausal feminist friends line up behind her in lockstep and make fun of
everything from the Governor's children, to her hair, makeup and clothes. They
quote bloggers who make up outrageous lies and don’t bother fact-checking. She
and the rest of the media go to bloggers like me and repeat what they read.as
though it were truth. For instance, I could make something up like, Maureen
Dowd is bulimic, is dating a married senator, and secretly had his baby whom she
put up for adoption. She also said, through an unnamed source, that she thinks
President Obama should dump that tasteless cow of a wife of his and find someone
with more class and grace. ‘Journalists’ and columnists being what they are
these days, would take that and run with it – if she were a conservative. They
wouldn’t bother to check the source, or to say they’d gotten it from some nutty
blogger.
If Ms. Dowd and Ms. Quinn had taken a step back and
examined their words through the eyes of the ‘normal’ people reading them, they
would have seen what we did. Unhappy, old, bitter women leading shallow lives
with shallow "friends" who have lost all touch with kindness and civility.
And then we saw the pack mentality of the media who has
its own liberal agenda that Sarah doesn’t fit into. And how did they attempt to
destroy her? This woman who gave one of the best untelepromptered speeches at
any convention in memory after two hours of preparation? You say she’s stupid
over and over and over again, regardless of how well she governed
And as for their making fun of Sarah’s looks, you’d
think they’d never walked past their own mirrors.
As angry as I got at how a fellow human being was
treated by these women - at how these women in essence verbally gang raped
another woman because of nothing more or less than a difference in political
philosophy - I felt sorry for them. When all was said and done, Sarah Palin
still had her dignity, at least to those of us who recognized what was going
on. These women with Maureen Dowd leading the charge, had nothing more than a
few good snickers behind their hands and their journalistic credibility in
tatters. And worse, they were too stupid to realize it and kept the personal
and snarky attacks coming. I felt like I needed a shower if someone even
described a Dowd column to me.
Ms. Dowd's apparent crush on President Obama's lanky
frame and Mrs. Obama's sculpted bare arms notwithstanding, Ms. Dowd appears
incapable of even a semblance of intellectual honesty. She hammers her points
home in column after column, and if she can't make them legitimately she, devoid
of imagination or intellect, pulls out the race card or the dumb broad card. It
must really gall her that Sarah was such a successful governor without an Ivy
League education. And she must have cheered when she stepped down as governor
to save Alaska from fighting the millions of dollars of frivolous lawsuits filed
by liberal operatives who went after her for everything from wearing a jacket
with a logo to one of her husband’s sporting events, to saying the name of a tea
she drank and claiming she was promoting it illegally. These same lawsuits cost
her family personally nearly half a million dollars. Money they didn’t have
because they were just ordinary people put in a in an extraordinary
situation..
The nation should probably thank Maureen. I suspect I'm
not the only one who feels as though they've been inoculated from this race
charge permanently now. And for having an understanding of how the media works
to assassinate people’s character and reputations if they consider them a
threat.
Bring it on, Maureen.
Clearly you weren't aware of it, but you unmasked
yourself on this one. When you start hearing racist words that no one said,
those are the words that are dancing in your own head. When you hear someone
say that a woman used the term ‘retarded’ in regard to a special needs child she
knew would be special needs and chose to bring into the world anyway - well,
you figuratively threw a bucket of water on yourself.
You're meeeeeeeeellllllllllllllting.
Ding dong, the witch is
dead.
