President Barack Obama, master of the grand gesture, says that he is giving the $1.4 million prize money that goes along with winning the Nobel Peace Prize to charity.
First, I want to see the proof. His charitable donations before running for office were, I believe, around one per cent of his income. When he got caught being cheap on charity, he gave a large donation to the Reverend Wright that upped his percentage considerably.
Second, if I might be so bold as to make a suggestion, perhaps he could give the Nobel money to the American people to help us pay down the deficit he's running up at a record rate. It won't go far, but every million helps.
