Helen Thomas, oldest and longest serving member of the White House Press Corps - I think she's been there since Abe Lincoln - said the following - and without even blushing in embarrassment.
"Jews, get the hell out of Palestine." She continues to say that Palestine is 'occupied' and it's their land. She says Jews should "go home to Poland and Germany."
Apparently her long term memory has erased the fact that living in those countries didn't work out all that well for Jews in the past. Most of them didn't survive the experience.
Or, perhaps sadly, that was the intent of her remarks.
Perhaps it's time for poor old Helen to retire. It's sad when people get to a point in their lives when they don't realize that, while once they may have had an important voice, there comes a time when they become pathetic; a bad joke that no one will tell them to their face.
Someone needs to tell Helen to 'go home'. I'm sure there are several in the Washington area that would take her in, let her pretend to scribble down important rest home news and maybe even play a few games of Bingo with resident Palestinians. But they should probably make sure there are no Jews in the home. Helen would probably turn them in to the Gestapo - er, administration - for being in Washington and not Poland or Germany.
After a storied career, this is the legacy she leaves behind because she's hasn't known when to retire: Helen Thomas: Racist, bigot, senile.
