Ever since Barack Obama came onto the scene, I've heard how smart he is.
I thought it must be so because every one said he was. He went to those fabulous schools. But then so did George Bush. (And I'm sure affirmative action had no part in Barack's acceptance at those fabulous institutions.)
Don't know how he did. Haven't seen any interviews with his buddies. Haven't seen any warm and fuzzy interviews with old roommates or teachers. Haven't read any old papers. Haven't seen his grades. He certainly didn't have what you'd call a stellar career after graduation. The man is nearly fifty and he managed a rather low level job at a law firm where he represented, of all things, ACORN, and got involved in community organizing. Not much of a resume. And it kind of makes a person wonder if he is one of ACORN's lucky discoveries. He certainly seems in line with their agenda, proposed by Sal Alinski (pardon my spelling on that one) and continues to funnel money to them. Just how crooked did they manage to make the election of Barack Obama?
He seems to have had an agenda early on. But that only gives him an agenda. That doesn't make him bright.
He was taken in by the Chicago political machine, which says as much about him as them. We know he's a brilliant mimic because for someone who has never lived a day in the south in his life, he's developed a lovely southern lilt. I personally think he got it from listening over and over again to the speeches of Martin Luther King. He even manages to mimic the same cadence. And there's a little Reverend Wright thrown in there as well.
He has a way with words, but a lot of reasonably bright con men do. The difference between Obama and most con men is that con men can think on the fly. Obama can't. You can actually see the panic and irritation on his face on those occasions when his teleprompter breaks downs. He literally has to stand in silence, or crack a few jokes until the technician gets it up and working before he can continue speaking on the topic at hand. There have actually been times when the teleprompter repeats something Obama has already said, and he's so disengaged, he's halfway through it before he realizes he's repeating himself.
When he's asked questions in an impromptu manner, you can see he has some humor, but he can't answer the question. You think he's answered the question - but wait - wait - you know it's coming.... "on the other hand...". He can't say "yes." He can't say "no". He can't come to a defining conclusion. He's indecisive. I don't think he's particularly well-versed in history. Certainly not American history.
I think his early Koranic teachings, his decades with his mentor, as he called him, the Jew-hating Reverend Wright and early admiration of Louis Farakhan are in evidence in his attitude toward Israel, however much he tries to disguise it.
I hear people say he's a cool cat. I don't think he's cool. I think he's cold. Arrogant. He's just fine telling waitresses, hairdressers, people working three jobs and people with no job to tighten their belts, while he has a thirty thousand dollar date night with his wife and jets around the world for campaign appearance after campaign appearance, while the wife and kiddies buzz off to Paris and London for some shopping and sightseeing on money they've picked out of the taxpayer pockets.
Tighten their belts indeed.
So call me crazy, but I don't think he's all that smart. He didn't even bother to surround himself with smart people to run the country. And if you add a not very bright man, surrounded by not very bright people - well, we've got some big problems. You can't run a country on ego alone. That he's got in abundance.
