The Houston Chronicle got their hands on an internal ICE email that details the perks of detainees when caught in this country when they shouldn't be. The author, one John Morton, (Obama knows how to pick them, doesn't he?) disagrees with Arizona's new immigration law, even though it follows Federal guidelines to the "T" - probably hasn't read it like others who've seen fit to negatively comment on it like, oh, for instance, Obama and Janet Napolitano, our Homeland Security Adviser and no doubt, Morton himself.
He said in the past that he wouldn't process illegals sent to him by Arizona. He apparently feels it's abusive to stop someone for a violation and ask for identification. What was it Obama said? Imagine taking your children out for ice cream and being stopped. Well, unless it's ice cream filled with cocaine, everyone is perfectly safe in their outings with the kiddies.
I'm trying to remember a time when I got stopped for speeding (yes, I have some experience in this area) and wasn't asked for identification. Hmmm. Nothing comes to mind. It's always, license, insurance, registration. But maybe that's just me and others have had a different experience.
Morton is now determined that people residing in this country illegally, while being held at detainment centers have the best of everything while they're in his custody. Dance lessons, movie nights, catered munchies like fresh veggie and fruit bars, hanging plants, email access, free telephone service, cooking classes, art classes, visitors for twelve hours at a time and, best of all, Bingo!
We are living in a country hemorrhaging money, but the Justice Department thinks the American taxpayer should fund these perks so criminals (yes, they're criminals) can feel like they're staying at the Ritz.
Heck, I'd be a border jumper and turn myself in deliberately if I knew these were the rewards I'd be getting for breaking the law.
They are also considering limiting or eliminating altogether pat down searches for the people who come here illegally.
We don't know who these people are or why they're in this country, and we're paying for their internet access and phone calls. Now we want to eliminate even pat down searches after detaining them and giving them free run of the detainment facility?
Anyone want to place a bet on when the first tragedy occurs if this goes through?
ICE Agents aren't happy. They rightly say that when you don't know who you're dealing with, you should err on the side of caution.
Maybe Morton and Holder should go in the field with a border patrol agent for a few weeks, get some shots fired at them, and then see how empathetic they are to the illegals.
Does this sound risky to anyone besides me? We have dead border agents, folks. We have dead ranchers murdered by illegals for doing nothing more than being on his own property at the wrong time.
On the other side, we have thugs smuggling drugs, arms and human beings into this country.
And they're armed to the teeth.
These are not all 'let's pick some lettuce for Farmer Jones' , or dreaming of being a barrista at a cafe.
Treat them humanely? Of course. It's more than their country would do for anyone from this country detained there.
So I'll just say right now to Presidente Calderone, if a fifteen year old with a rap sheet the length of New Jersey gets shot while entering America illegally, just shut up and take it.
Diplomatic incident my foot.
The Justice Department under Holder is out of control.
Morton defended the policy by saying: "When people come into our custody, we're detaining them to effect their removal. It's about deportation. It's not about punishing people for a crime they committed."
Is anybody home in this guy's head? Entering this country without permission is a crime.
We have borders. Respect the borders. Get in line. And I don't mean the ones that show hundreds of people climbing our fences.
And if you don't, there should be consequences, not a veggie bar and dance classes.
Aye Ca rumba.
