My, My, My.
I knew the government was up to something when they seemed so hell-bent on getting the public to notice the AIG bonuses. Regarding that, our fearless leaders acted as expected, with little class and a mob mentality that has become an international joke.
That aside, while we were busy looking over there, they were busy printing three trillion dollars.
Never in the history of civilized man has this worked.
We have people in power who have probably never heard of the Weimar Republic, much less studied it to find out why this fabulous idea of printing more money is dangerous.
We have people in power passing democracy-ending spending bills that they can't be bothered to read.
We have the primary taxpayers losing great chunks of their net worth. (Who's going to pay those lifeblood taxes now for all of the new government spending?)
I remember chuckling, not too long ago, about those crazy Italians and their 5 million lire loaves of bread. It's not so funny now, as the dollar is fast becoming a lire.
We have the government looking at Ron Paul supporters and people with Revolutionary rattlesnake "Don't Tread on Me" bumper stickers as potential militia members - not just people fed up with too much governmental intrusion.
We have a president who is so spontaneously inarticulate that his constant companion, his teleprompter, now has an official name: TOPUS (Teleprompter of the President of the United States).
We have a presidential press secretary who, when he's not making scathing, unprofessional and childish personal attacks on America's previous President and Vice President, has two pet sayings in this new age of transparency: "I don't know the answer to that," and "I haven't spoken with the President about that yet."
There's more.
But on the bright side, Obama and Jay got on like a house on fire last night. Whew! Let me wipe the sweat from my brow right now. I was really worried about how that was going to go, Leno being known for his tough interrogations and intimate knowledge about the workings of government. It could have gotten dicey.
