Initially as rioters were being murdered in the streets of Iran, Obama spoke of not wanting to meddle; it was Iran's business; we (the U.S.) could deal with whoever ended up in power. It was his usual version of voting 'present'. This was no doubt taken by the rulers of Iran for what it was: That it didn't matter to the United States what they did; didn't matter how they conducted their election. Ya'll come on over on the Fourth of July for some wienies and beans and let's celebrate America's Independence Day together. Keep on shooting down those young people in the street who just wanted a fair election. (Obama knows all about election fraud what with his buddies at ACORN and all. No reason it should bother him in Iran if it doesn't bother him in his own country. You see, it's not the journey. It's the destination.)
Of course, while he's not meddling in Iran's business, he's ordering Israel not to build any more settlements. I guess it's okay to meddle there.
The French president, who I'm liking more all of the time, much to my shock and delight, made a statement as soon as people began protesting in the streets of Iran that democracy depends upon the rights of the voters to be respected and that this election was a sham.
It took the president of the United States a week to become anywhere near that eloquent. And even then he had to use notes and stumbled over the words. Has anyone ever seen this man speak extemporaneously on any occasion besides answering questions? Just wondering.
No one wanted you to bomb anyone, or to send in tanks you conceited jerk. Did you notice that those kids were holding up signs printed in English? Did you notice that they were emailing and twittering to Americans?
Mybad. You were probably golfing again, or on a photo op taking the girls out for ice cream.
