Lovelle Mixon, a black man (I steadfastly refuse to use African American - if I did, I'd have to continuously refer to myself as an Irish, Scottish, English, German, American Indian woman and it just takes up too much space) murdered four policemen in Oakland, CA a couple of days ago. He'd just been paroled after serving five years for a firearms conviction. DNA evidence proves he raped one girl and he is suspected of having raped several others. There was a big, big rally - love fest really - for the killer. Here are some choice shouted tidbits:"What goes around comes around." "Lovelle is a hero." And the ever popular chant, "What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!"
The organizer of this charming event, whose name escapes me, thank God, spoke of all of the black men in prison. Well, I guess if you don't want to go to prison, you shouldn't sell drugs, join gangs or murder people. Works for me. He waxed poetic on lack of educational opportunities and joblessness. Hmmmm. The teenage pregnancy rate is what? The schools are there, but the drop out rate is what? I and others are paying through the nose for those babies and technical schools and that money is going where? There's no way out? I'm so sick of hearing that. If you don't like the way your life is going, do something about it and add to the world rather than detract from it. Man up.
How utterly stunning that a group of people (and I want it understood that in this instance there were some black people who were as appalled as I am) can raise a murdering rapist to the level of hero because he murdered four other men. The fact that they were white policemen, as one protester said, was icing on the cake.
So the next time one of these charming people gets shot, gets robbed or has a heart attack - I wonder who they'll call?

Americorps. Or is it Amerikorps? This is a group that basically pays people to volunteer. Teachers who otherwise wouldn't be working are paid by the government to work in underprivileged areas. Warm and fuzzy, right? Nope. Too good to be true. There's an agenda. There's always an agenda. This week the Senate voted to triple the number of Americorps volunteers to 250,000 at a cost to taxpayers of $5.6 Billion. We're sinking in financial quicksand, and this is on their important agenda. And there are some lovely provisions if people want to participate. They MUST wear a uniform. They MUST attend education (read indoctrination) centers on approved campuses into the Americorps way of thinking i.e. Liberal Democrat. Yes, let's bring up another whole generation of those little rascals that the taxpayers foot the bill for.

Senator Judd Gregg said this week that with our debt to GDP ratio right now, we wouldn't even be allowed to become members of the European Union. Think back to Obama's "Citizen of the World" speech in Germany. They thought it was great then. Not so great now. Yep. Even the Socialists are shocked and trying to rein us in. How scary is that?
